Furniture Salon - Milan - '2023

by SKLADA

The Furniture Salon in Milan has long been more than just a trade fair, but one of the most significant cultural centers in the world in the field of design. It is not by chance that Milan is called the World Capital of Design. This year is another year that fully confirms this status.

Obviously, after the covid crisis, people need hope that there is a way out and we can deal with the challenges of the modern age. The only real answer comes precisely from the world of design. And Milan, during the furniture salon, is the most colorful, cheerful, beautiful and full of hope world that we can meet.

From a commercial point of view, the furniture showroom in Milan is the most accurate tool with which a company can measure the validity of its products. Right here, and nowhere else, traders from all over the world gather, as well as simple consumers. The litmus test these people give is absolutely accurate and no marketing agency can replace it.

If you are just a visitor, you get the chance to see a bunch of everything significant in the field of furniture. If they are in Milan, then they have managed to go through the rather serious test and preparation, because this fair is a real competition of maturity for the manufacturing companies.

Milan gives a chance to newly hatched designers to show their creativity, as well as to newly hatched companies. But the criteria are so high that even they must already have the required level of quality. For this reason and for many other reasons, Milan is filled with people from all over the world. The most diverse and at the same time cultural crowd that can exist gathered in one place.

This year was also very rich in exhibitions and events outside the fair, organized by various companies and organizations. As many as 350 each. They are located in the wonderful urban spaces and buildings that Milan generously provides. And the renowned publication INTERNI organizes a guide under the name - Design Re.evolution.

Here are some of the most special ones:

Triennale - exhibition "Droog30. Design or Non-design”; "Italian Design Museum";

Fondazione Castiglioni;

Museo del Novecento - "Concetto spaziale neon" - Lucio Fontana

Museo Bagatti Valsecchi – “Palazzo delle maraviglie”

Galleria Rossana Orlandi

Alcova – platform for independent design.

Orto botanico di Brera - ENI Space

Torre Velasca – QR code: Quick RE-Evolution code

Perhaps the only thing we can say more about the importance of design and the role of the designer in modern society. I will quote several important protagonists: one is Ai Weiwei - the famous Chinese artist, on the occasion of his exhibition at the Design Museum in London - "Ai Weiwei: Making Sense" - "Design is necessarily part of politics and inevitably reflects our attitude to life and our view of the world. It has to do with the way we define who we are." And Christian Mohaded in an interview with Marva Griffin says: "Design provides an answer to the problems of society. It is a discipline that is a special tool, both for science and for education, politics and other spheres in which society seeks an answer to the question of how to improve the quality of life. Society is obliged and must rethink the models of consumerism.

Maybe the time has come when we can redefine Dostoevsky's thought - "Beauty will save the world" with "Design will save the world".
